stumped

ok me and the shop are a little stumped, looking for ideas. the abs light and sometimes the airbag light will flash on my dash and all the gages will shut down, if u tape the top of the dash it will get the gages back, was thinking it was the cluster... then the abs and break light come on and stay on, it seems to reset the abs so it doesnt have the right info. after that my gages seem to work fine, atleast i dont notes them shuting down on me, any idea what would cause this?

sounds like a loose connection to the instrument cluster or in the cluster itself.

find a friend, or someone in your area to "borrow" for a min to determine if it is that first before i'd buy one. even pay a wrecking yard 20 dollars or a case of beer to test one for an hour

Sounds to me like it is a loose connection to the ignition circuit. I'd look for a loose fuse or connection at the fuse box in the side of the dash. I've also seen a truck have loose connection in the steering column. Take the cover off of the bottom of the column & mess with the connections in there, they can get loose, I've seen it.

i had this problem with mine. this was a comon problem. i got a rewire kit from dodge. you cut the plug off and solder a new one on the harness where it plugs into the back of the cluster. i think the kit was under $50

Cool Dash Gauges Did Not Work

Try the plug at the master brake cylinder for the A.B.S. Mine was doing the same thing and I took it to the dealer to get repaired . The tec unpluged it and repluged it back in . FIXED . $ 85.00 please - and they gave me a DEAL !
Told me if it does it again I would need a new A.B.S. switch at over 300.00 + PLUS labor . I hope this HELP"S .

I had a loose fuse on #9 cicuit in the fuse panel & lost all gauges till I hit a bump & they'd come back on. The abs light/brake lights were flashing. I changed the fuse in the #9 cicuit & all was good. That circuit is also used by quadzilla to manage the turbo timer when using the Adrenaline because it is the ignition feed circuit. Alot of wierd stuff can happen when that circuit is weak.

Hello,

Do these trucks have a fusible link? if so I had the same problem years ago with the fusible link on a gas motor home.
