Stumble with 370's

We just got done installing 370's in the truck and it has a stumble at around 1100rpms. The timing is set at 17* and I also put 181 dv's in the pump. So you would think that its not a fueling problem. But what do yall think it is?

I to have a bit of a stumble around the same RPM, timed at 16*. The local shop said the smaller pumps like a good bit of timing with 370's and that bumping it up to around 19-20* would help take some of it away. But I'm not comfortable running that much timing on the stock headgasket with no studs.

How loud does the pump become when you time it. Because it sounds like an older model powerstroke whenever it is in the 1000 to 1400rpm range. Is this normal? We did the timing and the injectors at the same time so i dont know If its supposed to be like that or not.

Do you guys get the "rattle" in the injectors when you are at a real low RPM-like when cold?

Are you talking about after you first start it the truck feels like it has air in the lines and it pops and sounds like its missing for a little while.

I know Joseph has the stumble too. He has 370s and dvs in your same pump. He never found the problem.

How bad would 370's stumble in a truck with a stock 160 pump/ delivery valves? Thats the reason i really dont want to run 370's in mine; because if i do 370's, and DV's, my tranny will probably die So thats why im hoping to go with 215's, and 181 dv's.

I'm sportin' the 370's and i have the stumble at 1100, too. Real simple fix, just pull the lever down and run a lower gear. It is a very small compromise for the power and potential power that they give. I also didn't notice as large of a difference in egts. You can't beat them for the power and price. I'm planning on living with the stumble until I get some Laser cuts, but I've got to get a lot more turbo before that. It really isn't that bad. I noticed cold weather starting is a little different, maybe a bit tougher but not bad at all.

Yes, you can hear the injector rattle, once it warms up-noise gone, or if I raise the RPM's just a bit.

Cumminsdriver-from what I know 370's are a no no with a stock 160 HP pump. I "think" you can get away with 330's though.

Crimedog-Are biggers DV's gonna cure this stutter? At some point my pump is going into a "pro" ie Schieds, etc, etc to have the volume increase from 220ish CC's to about 300-330 cc's of fuel!!

19*, too much. I believe that the "best" spot is 15.5-16*

Why exactly is 19 too much? Have you had personal experience with it in a 160 pump truck?
