Straight pipes...BUT

Ok, So i went around to most every muffler shop today in my city, they all said that because my truck came with a cat on it that i cannot straight pipe it. Anyone have problems with this, already having a cat on ur truck and not being able to take it off? What should i do? I want a 4 inch straight pipe but i dont want to spend close to 800 including install for it which is the mean of what i was quoted today.

Shops can get in big trouble if they remove the cat, so most won't. The best thing I can tell you is remove it yourself. I know a shop where I live that if the car comes in without a cat they won't put one on if you do not want one. Maybe you can find a shop like that.

Good Luck

Yea, buy your own for closer to 300-400 bucks and do it your self. Easy to do with a sawzall and very basic tools and a few hours.

You can get an exhaust from a variety of places. This is just one that offers good prices:

Hi, kev. In Denver the regional smog district requires and inspects for a cat at the annual inspection. The inspectors know which models had a cat as OEM and will not pass the vehicle if it is missing. Is Ft. Collins in the district? Even if not, your resale market will shrink without the cat. My 12-v is black too, we should get together and compare.

just get another cat and run the straight pipe through it if you want to pass a visual.
