Straight Pipe caused Higher TEMPS???
Well a couple of days ago I went and had my exhaust cut off and just straight piped it, now for some reason my engine temps run different on my truck, like one min its running about 190, then next its runnin a little hotter. Not overheating but just different. is this normal? I dont remember it doing that on my 04.5. Oh I need to fix my sig. Truck is a 2001 Auto, Bullydog Outlook w/power enhancement, S&B intake.

Ha Ha, lol Yeah it does do that, but seriously the hand moves. Say I'm running 50mph hand its 190 mark it will climb almost to the mark right after that then once i kinda start cruising and just keep my foot there not giving it much gas then it will start going back down to 190 after i drive like that for a few, I dunno????

dont think one has anything to do with the other. check to see if the bi-metallic spring on your fan clutch is clean, if its caked with oil and dirt it may be kicking in late

Just like upsleder and John has mentioned...it's probably just a coincidence that it starting doing this after your exhaust. First check coolant level, and make sure it's nice and clean. Then check you're fan clutch....check it for dirt and make sure it feels pretty good (residence wise). If those things check out you believe, I would change out the thermostat regardless!

Yeah the truck has 154K and had a new radiator put in. Coolant level is normal(full), but I have not checked the fan clutch. I'll be sure to check that out. Thanks for your help everybody.

I got my t-stat at the local auto shop for like 25 bucks. Once I put that in, and pulled my Radi and fluched it and cleaned it, I never see over 190*.
Most of the time it just hangs out at 175-180. Nice and cool. Im at 80 k miles and did that when I was at aound 72 k So if it hasnt been done on yours ( t-stat) fo sue change.
