Smile stock plate forward?

Ok,I've got my pyro and boost gauges on order and will be installing as soon as they arrive. I need opinions on sliding the stock fueling plate forwards and how far? Should I be safe doing this using gauges until I come up with the $ for a good plate? How much gain can I expect from this? I won't be running the truck to hard as I have a stock 47RH right now, but my future plans include a Goerend trans and convertor. I do have a slide in camper and 19 ft boat that I tow so truck isn't really overworked most of the time, although ocassionally I pull a 20 ft tag with small tractor and all the firewood logs I can get on it, for 15-30 miles, this can be a pretty good load sometimes

You will be fine. Slide that sucker all the way forward. As long as the governor lever is riding at the right spot on the plate still, you will be fine. Just watch your EGT's, and transmission. You will probably gain 40hp or so.

it'll be fine... I even took the chop saw and slotted the bolt holes so that I could slide it even farther forward
