I have a 4 wd w/o the camper package so it sits pretty close to level. My question is what size tires should I run w/o rubbing. I have 265's but I think a little taller might work better. Any pics of a 285 on a stock 2nd gen w/o a lift or leveling kit or a camper package (heavy springs) in the rear? Thanks guys!

you can squeeze 295's on there and probably 305's (with a little rubbing on the 305s maybe), but you should get a wider aftermarket rim to go with them. 285's are the max if you want to keep the stock rims.

I have 16x8's on there now. So I take it that the 285's will fit w/o rubbing? What about when you tow?

I have 305's on 8.5" wide wheels and I get just a bit of rub on the inside of the front fenders. It hits on the little plastic bump out on the inner fender skirt. As far as the back end goes there's a ton more room then the front end. I doubt you'll ever see any problems back there. I have a couple of pics in my gallery. If ya look at a post that I started called "Makin' some changes" there's some info that may help ya a little.
Good luck,
Topper

yup, i agree with Topper. The only reason you *should* (subject to opinion) change the rims if you go bigger than 285's is that you will cup the tire and get uneven tread wear. The reason that happens is that the tire is too wide for the rim, so the center ends up cupping outwards.
And yes, I have 285's on my truck right now, and they haven't rubbed in front yet, and never will in the rear.
