stock air box + no wire tap dyno results
I attended the Mason Dixon Spring Fling and got my truck on the rollers finally.
I'll let the results speak for itself
477.37 hp/ 946.81 ft/lbs sae .97
Uncorrected numbers: 492/976
Wooty Woot!
I'm going to try to get this scanned and uploaded asap
Unfortunately I left too soon too see if Doug managed to hit 900 again =\

Veeery Impressive. Actually remarkable! And on an ETH too!
Time to re-examine the HRVP as to how it does it's thing. My understanding has always been that the HRVP does not put out more fuel at max flow than a standard VP-44? This belief now seems suspect.
Well done Ph4tty! Please do scan it...would love to see the power curve and the type dyno.

The HRVP44 will stomp the guts out of a standard SO pump until about 600 HP at which time they become even steven.
Where the HRVP44 only needs a M4 size stick to make 600 with a wire tap box or close to 500 without, the standard SO pump needs a M6 or larger.
They both begin to run out of steam no matter how big the injector is around 600 though and there is some evidence that the HRVP44 can actually get less power with the M6 and up size stick.

Thanks Don. My assumption that the HRVP flowed no more fuel came from an answer (from Mark Chappel, IIRC) that the HRVP would not solve, or improve the TST Comp shudder problem at max settings.
Maybe I assumed too much!

Yeah we had a guy with 4's, an Edge COMP and a big single ( i think a PS66 ) make 604 using the HRVP44!!!
We then popped in a set of larger than usual 6's. It went down to 550 ): with no other changes.
Not sure yet if the large sticks are the cause. Could be. Or more than likely a toasted box. We will get it trouble shot and find out for certain soon.
I have had another customer with a very similar set up run some M7's but he made 602 HP with his using the HRVP44. But I think he could have made the same thing with 4's or 5's.
We need a larger group of trucks to test these theories out more thouroughly.

Just for comparison, we played on the dyno this weekend at Floor-It Diesel. Truck is an 02 H.O.(still has the original VP-44) with a TST(hot version), Mach 6+ and a Sledpuller 66. The truck pulled a 494 hp. With the TST off and Smarty SW#9, the truck made 470 hp. With the TST on and Smarty SW#9 it made 525 hp. We also ran it with my old EZ and stock programming and made 519 hp. All numbers are uncorrected but the weather was horrible... rain and/or mist nearly the entire time.
John thought the numbers seemed low... this truck(in it's "original" configuration) made 552 hp last fall on the same dyno. We're definitely squeezing all the fuel out of the stock H.O. VP-44...
I'm hoping to get the graphs and videos sometime this week
