Steering Stabilizer Other Brands DSS
My truck is in desperate need of a steering stabilizer = DSS to fix my sloppy sector shaft and scary steering when driving in the slush. I know there are some other knock off brands for the Solid Steel ones, where can I get them. 209 bucks seems a little steep. I thought someone was selling some for less than 180. Any websites for deals, sales, etc that could point me in the right direction?

I bought one from PSC, they finally got them back in stock. I will get it installed this weekend. If all goes well, some of my buddies will probably bite the bullet and order for their rides as well.

JLent, I just noticed your obsessively high thread count vs join date. And I thought I had a diesel truck resource obsession. I've learned a ton over the past year!
Oh, the PSC unit was 150 shipped to my door. Can't beat that price anywhere. As far as fit, come Saturday I'll know. As far as finish, all of the parts seem to have high quality high gloss paint job.

I have one from psc on my truck and it is working just fine. I did a new steering box at the same time and the pitman wouldn't go back on all of the way so I had to space the brace with a washer under each mounting point.

The way the steering box is designed, the pitman arm puts a lot of force on the output bearing on the box. When a box is new, this bearing is pretty tight and the truck will steer well. As the box gets older, this bearing gets more and more play in it until it really messes up your ability to control the truck. Putting a dss on an older box can often make your steering much better if the rest of the box is not worn out. Putting one on a new box will make that box last much longer.
There are a ton of places in these front ends where something can wear out and cause steering issues. If you are experiencing these issues, you should actively spend some time under the front end with someone else turning the wheeel and figure out what your problems are. A dss is a good addition to any truck but often bigger gains can be had by dealer with a larger issue that is truck specific.
