Steering Box Brace

Steering Box Brace
For those that might be interested, I installed the Windecker Machine Ltd. steering box brace on my 2 wheel drive truck a couple of weeks ago. I have been pleased with the results. The truck's steering feels much tighter and it seems to track better. It doesn't wander all over the road like before. The fit and finish of the parts were great. Of course I had to purchase a 1 and 5/16 inch half drive standard socket ( for the original pittman shaft nut) and a 1 and 1/4 inch half drive deep socket for the replacement nut. I had all of the other stuff including the torque wrenches. I bought the sockets from my local Snap On tools guy. Both sockets together cost around $73.00 which included tax ( 8.25%) and my 10% discount.

Windecker steering box brace
After reading posts about death wobble, vibrations, wandering steering, and even though I don't have any of these (22,000miles), I bought the Windecker steering box brace as preventative maintance and installed it today. Directions are posted on their website, with pictures, and it couldn't have been easier. It only took 45minutes, premium product in my estimation, under $200, and I guess I can justify(rationalize) it for the same reason I use synthetic oil, and over maintain my truck in terms of more frequent changes of fluids, filters, etc. I sure like my truck and hope this will be another feature to help keep it safe and useable well into my old age. Bill
