You know I just figured out why it was such a pain in the rear for getting the AFC housing off, I had some bolts, no allen screws. Yeah, that sucks trying to get those back in. I am going to try and get some allen screws tommorow to replace them.

Moving the torque plate will help you alot but not near as much as a TST#10 torque plate about 1/16 of and inch from full foward. You will need to use a hammer driver to get the two torque plate screws loose most of the time. When you put the AFC housing back on make sure you push it all the way foward and hold there when tightening up.

Last I checked (2 years ago) it was a "free" exchange from peirs for a new cam plate if you bought the old one from them. give them a 50$ deposit and pay for the new one to be shipped out. swap your plates then pay to ship the old one back then get your 50$ back.. at least thats what I remember. And the sears impact driver works really well on the cam plate. And as a side note maybe thats why my truck made really cruddy tourq on the dyno. the afc houseing might be way back from all the screwing around I've done in there.

Unless you consciously slide the housing forward it tends to slide all the way to the rear.

jprovence,
I just traded my plate at TST last month for$50. The truck runs much better with the addition of 3,000 gov & afc spring kits. These are the BIGGEST bang for your bucks!!
the impact driver is the best way to remove the screws. Thats the way they are put in. You won't believe the new truck that you will have on your hands
ENJOY
