I installed my #8 plate last weekend and forgot to mess with the star wheel. How much more bottom end and smoke will I get if I move the star wheel completely forward???
Thanks.....

Hard to tell with your plate,
since im not familiar with the profile of the eight plate. But you will have more smoke than where it is now because you are loosening the air fuel control that allows for more fuel to go in, and since the turbo can only spool up so fast, that un used fuel will become black smoke,
U loose it and u get more smoke, you tighten it, and you get the inverse..

Also as a side note on my truck with the wheel all the way forword I got around 12mpg with it as tight as I can make it I get about 19. With the price of diesel now i cant afford to keep it forword. just something to think about.

Hmmm....with mine in original position, i got 22....with it full forward (different driver, with a lighter foot) he got 25 mpg. I have the original plate though...I just changed the wheel. To tell you the truth, the only smoke I get with the original plate is at idle. I get just a bit, and I have more "diesel smell" out of the exhaust at idle.
