Stainless rocker panel skins
I am looking at getting some of the polished stainless skins that attach to the bottom of the front fender, the doors and the lower portion of the bed. However, the ones I have seen only go down to the crease in the sheet metal. They don't go down all the way to the bottom. Does anyone know of any that cover the bottom area too?

Re:Stainless rocker panel skins
Hey guys,

First time poster here.

I have the stainless rocker panels - they were on the truck when I bought it. They dont work well at all - the area below still gets all chipped up and looks like hell. I wouldnt recommend them. Also, they look great when they are new, but after a couple of years you have to polish them regularily (if thats an issue with you). I am currently looking at having the bedliner (Linex etc. ) sprayed on the rockers, front to back. I personally havent seen any trucks that have it, but have heard that it works really well (and you can color code it to match the truck). A few guys have told me to use the cold spray stuff as it is much more abrasion resistant that the hot sprayed stuff.

Has anyone had his done? If so, Im sure we'd all appreciate your input/comments.

Thanks.

I believe my fellow chapter 7 member JohnP had his rockers sprayed with the liner stuff and you can't tell unless you look really really close. Look in the Truck of the Month file in the member photos section (April Truck Of The Month) and look for the red truck. It looks very good.

One of the members of the Northwest Bombers had his truck sprayed down there. He's very pleased with the results and it's hard to tell unless you get up real close.

~Dave

Re:Stainless rocker panel skins
I had stainless rockers on my Toyota 4x4 when I was a kid. They looked great, but then again, I lived in southern California, and it only went off road a few times a year. Right after that, I had to spray between the truck and rockers to try to get all the mud out. And I had to use soft water. After about 2 years, they started to rust. I'd stay away from them if you're planning on using the truck off-road (or should I just say using the truck?! ) and if you don't live in southern California, where it never rains.
