I have to assume that you missed the part where I said "But, hey, other people use their trucks for other things. Your mileage may vary..."

Does anyone know if you can purchase Silverlines stacks seperately, or must you buy their whole kit? I really like their black chrome stacks, but I want to mount my stacks closer to the center of the rear window and was gonna make my own kit to cut down on cost. I think they get over $700 for their kit with the black chrome stacks.

Uh, and when I slide 3/8" sheets of diamond plate steel in the bed and use my bumper pull trailer to pull the rest of the steel that is too long I assume that having a tailgate isn't important? Stacks would be crushed off right at the bed floor in order to close the tailgate. With the tailgate down the jack on the tongue of the trailer would smash into the tailgate. But, there again, I can't hear you because my ears are still ringing from when I rode with my friend pulling my gooseneck trailer.

If your already hauling on the trailer... why not throw all of it on the trailer? I mean if theirs a will theres a way. And my comment was more so directed at(although I didn't make it seem that way) guys that would really like stacks but think they're going to lose bed space. It obvious that you aren't really looking to get stacks.

The only way I could install the stacks was to "box" them in, so I could haul plywoood, drywall, ect. Just a couple of 2x6's across the bed and I'm good to go. I lose about 10 inches of bed space with the box but I since I have a "shelf" to haul 4x8 sheets I don't miss it. When traveing I can put the roll-n-lock back on to keep things dry. Just something to consider making if lost bedspace is all that is holding someone back from installing them. The only problem I have had only happened ONE time. I started my truck up with my wife standing outside next to the truck. Like I said it only happened once and for those with stacks you know what I mean..........Brad

anything past the cab ie. the "passenger compartment" is legal in most states, you may need heat shields for inspection though, not sure why though thinkyou do in n.j. though i have never seen em on a truck
