check out my gallery for pics of my miters. i like em 2 or 3 inches above the cab.
now that ive got my air horns & my cab lights up there, the stacks would look good with about 4 or 5 inches above the cab. however im not going to move it.

I got the Grand Rock exhuast kit from the Kenworth deal local 4in through the bed and 5in y and 90's came with the clamps and flex pipe for $220, bought the 2 stacks 5in x 48in mitercuts off ebay for $100 shipped to the door. there about 8ins over the cab, I'm 7ft10in (8ft door in shop didn't know if she would back out after i got them on)from the tip to the ground with a 2in lift and 235s. a little tall but the look has grown on me. It does lower the sound in the cab. I rode in a truck that had them 1in over and it was louder that mine inside.

They really aren't as far above the cab as they look. They are about 6" tops above the cab.

now that i look back...i really wish i had gotten 6" mitre's the 5's look small with my tool box in there. i paid $370 shipped for mine, took about 8-9 days. i did my install different then big blue tho. there the pipe changes from 4-5" he just rested that "flange" on the bed...i mounted mine so the cross pipe was flat on the bed floor. this required me to cut a larger 5.5"x8-9" oval hole to sink the elbows into the bed floor. and this kept the stacks as low as possible without cutting them. i like them where i have them because it lets people in front of the truck see them just a little bit wihtout being too gaudy or overly wanna be rig driver.
for what its worth ive seen a 2-3 truck with TALL stacks...one on another forum has them about 3' above the cab, and the other i saw on my sledpulling DVD was a 3rd gen that has them about 30" above the cab with straight cuts and flappers...sound was terrible, smoke was uneven all the time, and the flappers looked rediculously retarded...but to each is own

I agree about the looks of stacks that are too high. I like them a little above the cab though...6" up to maybe 12" max, maybe even as low as 2-4" above the cab. Just enough so they are actually above the cab. Bigblue's look great.

J/K i love BB's truck, i cant wait to get the same lift and ladder bars, and get me some better wheels and tires! his truck makes me wanna shave all my 2nd gen emblems and go 3rd gen as well

I'm personally not a huge fan of stacks in the first place...............but if I'd ever get them I'd keep the flush with the top of the cab!! I just like the look of that better, looks cleaner to me but some peoples taste is different. The 6" doesn't look bad on Blues truck, but anything taller doesn't look so hot in my book

ive got stacks...do them as high as u want...its all up to u...just take your time and make them STRAIGHT....once u get to cab level with them 1 or 2 inches can make a bigger difference in cab noise than u think

Hmm
in my opinion they should be 1-2 inches above the cab... i dont like the high risers very much, but then again, stacks really arent my thing. bad for the horse and cattle trailers that i tow.....

I've been thinking about stacks for my rig and I'd go with 6" black straight cut 1-2" above the cab only reason i haven't done it is i dont wanna eat up space in the box. So its stacks or "cool duals" .....most likely duals
ihpower those stacks are very cool, i wanna do the same
