Stacks, How High
The stacks are on there way, they should be here middle of next week. My question is how high to place them? I'm think'n about placing them about 4-6 inches above the cab. They are 5'in Mitre cuts. Pics would be great. Thanks

Same here! Mine should be here hopefully by this weekend, except I got the 6" miter cuts..... Also I would say about 1" over the cab at most.
This is the look I'm going for, but about an 1" higher...
Those are 6" also.

I might have OCD but mine have to look very uniform and correct. If I run slash cuts the have to be either the bottom of the cut even with the top of the cab or 1" above. Turn outs bottom of the turn even with the top of the cab, but thats just me.

I don't have any yet, but I like the looks of having them at least 6" higher than the cab. I would think that would also keep them from being as loud inside the cab. I also happen to like the looks of the smaller stacks- 5" or even 4". I think the 6" just overwhelm the truck. Just my opinion though...go with what you like.

I agree with an inch or two, I think they just look out of place much higher than that, I hate seeing stacks that stick up 2 or 3 feet above the cab, just looks weird to me, but I'd definatly agree with 1"-2", just my opinion, Dusty

One question for those of you who have done it...where do you buy your pipe? I have found affordable stacks on ebay, but I checked around and there is only 1 shop in my area who deals with larger pipe (I have 4") and the parts are VERY expensive! I paid close to $50 for a 4' section of 4" pipe. Elbows are even worse at almost $50 each. Since I would need an estimated 5 elbows, plus pipe, I come to $300-$350 worth of parts, not counting flex pipe, clamps, or hangers, or the stacks themselves. I was just wondering if there was a discount place to get some of this stuff.

Id go with the tip of the stacks level with the top of the cab, or maybe 1" above it. I just dont really like stacks higher than that on most trucks. Especially Extended cab shortbeds.

Keep em low, keep em low. Too high and it looks very overdone and tacky.
Don't get ricer on us.
I also agree with the above poster on the 6" looking too big on a pickup truck.
Just say no to bling... keep em low and classy.

look in the classifieds, just seen a set of turnouts, even if you're deadset on mitre cuts, you'd still probably save some $ on all the other components, just a thought, Dusty

Getblown5.9 thats about the height I was think'n as well, maybe a shade lower.
With my shortbed I don't want the stacks to be too overbearing.

Yup. getblown5.9 and I both got our kits from them. I love mine. Very easy install and looks great.
They really aren't as far above the cab as they look. They are about 6" tops above the cab.
