i was wondering places that sell 5" tips. I was going to build my own box for the y pipe and all that. Wondering what would be the best to use for the box.

i dunno what ur question is exactly..but...i used a 3x6 piece of square tubing ....pretty thick gauge too so i can drop soil and gravel on it without ever worrying...as u can imagine i sealed the ends and cut 5" holes on each end and a 4" hole underneath..etc etc...i used a mig welder to weld pipe stubs so i can insert the stacks and the pipes underneath.. painted the square pipe high heat black and it rests nicely in there...doesnt take up space like the elbows and y pipe version ( i had that before)...i find this much cleaner...some guys might chyme in here...as for the stacks themselves u can get them anywhere...go to ur local big truck shop (any brand) and u can get them or order them online...i got them at a wreckers...cost me pizza money

You guys use that square stock, wouldn't the "y" pipe be less restrictive"? Wouldn't smoke roll easyer and more evenly out of a "y" pipe instead of the square stock?

Thanks
Jeff

no no....maybe on some microscopic air particle mathematical lever ...i made my bottom hole right in the middle of the square tubing and it flows symmetrically all the time...just gotta fiddle with the piping underneath to get clearance from the driveshaft

Oook.I might end up doing that when i make my stacks,it seems liek it would be cheaper then a "y" pipe.I will have to call around for 6x6x1/4 see if anyone has a scrap piece laying around.

we're looking on using the square tube to go across the bed when I get my stacks. I like the look of the square tube becuase it won't show as much as the round tube across the bed.
Hoping to get my stacks on in the next month before hubby comes home from Iraq

BigBlue nice stacks.I calle dthe one big rig shop up the road from me and they said they got old "y" pipes in the back along with stacks and other misc pieces,so they told me to come up and they can put me a price together. They guy asked me what kind of truck i had and i told him and he started laughing,he thought i was joking about putting them on a pickup he said you dont see that up this way, which is true i have yet to see a diesel with stacks.
BigBlue did you get that sticker on your back window custom made?

Yup. Sticker was custom made at the rodeo about 5 years ago. It's about time to get a new one. That one is starting to peel on the edges. Thanks for the compliment. Get used to having people give you strange looks with the stacks. I've had mine for a couple of months and people still stop and stare. It's great though. I love the attention.
