So far no BOOM!

COOoooOoOooL, I have a slip tank that is 47" wide so I have lots of room on either side for this and the cut out is 9" deep by 8" high so I am going to run the cross pipe to the drivers side stack in that space.

Thanks for the reply!

Off of the "Y" in the bed I used Flex pipe. It "gives" some if you need it. From the flex to the 90* and up. I have roughly $300-350 in this set-up. Under the bed I have from my muffler, 2 90* elbows that then attach to the "Y".

you guys have nice exhaust setups- exactly what i want! where do you get the "y" pipe? are they custom made? or can we just get all of the parts from a heavy truck parts dealer ? how did you cut the bed floor?

I got the Y and the stacks from www.berubes.com and the rest of the stuff is just off the shelf NAPA stuff.

Here's a close up of the left side stack mount on the floor.

I made the y myself. Much cheaper, cost me 20 bucks, I bought a 4" u bend cut it in half then spliced them together. I also didnt feel like waiting for shipping.

No Prob Scotty .
What truck are you puttin the stacks on?

Make sure, if you make your own Y, to put a divider plate to divert the exhaust flow evenly and try to make the split as graduall as possible. Otherwise you will have a back up in your splitter which will decrease flow .

I am leaning hard at putting them on WLD RYD. I follow your diverter idea... I was thinking about tapering the split gradually within the ' Y '.

I think 5" stacks slightly turned out just at the roofline.
I need to get under the truck and make sure theres room or the inline exhaust brake before the pipes come through the bed.
One suggestion was to put the brake in the bed right where it comes in on the passenger side, then the " Y ".

I am still on the fence about a muffler though. Leaning to a small one to cut some of the noise. Gotta have a balance between cool and loud for me.

hey scotty stop jackin the thread

dieseldue, where did you get those clamps holding it to the bed floor, i have never seen them before? Also the clamp on the stack itself, is that attached to the upper rail on the bed

So are you guys using a 4 to 5 right before the stacks. I think i saw a band clamp that was 4 to 5. that way i could run the pipe higher in the stack to help decrease heat, guess i'll call berubes sometime today.

Git-r-done how did you get the measurements to cut the tonneau, i was thinking measure from a 45* to the approx center of pipe the trace that onto the cover. How about for where the y comes through, how did you guys get at the location for that.

Whoops.

At least I never started rambling about how good and efficient the George Foreman Grill is and how the competition is not really up to the task the George Foreman Grill is.
Now that would've really been off topic. Whereas the discussion is about stacks and that was/is what I was referring to as well.

Has anybody considered just one stack? I know the twin stacks look cool but I hate non-functionality. Is that a word?

I was also considering that...maybe like an 8" single with turnout, or a slight turnout. have you ever noticed how the exhause comes out of the septa buses, its a really smooth elliptical turnout, that would be cool.

But anyway back to these questions

Well, that was kinda tricky. The way the frame is set-up on my tonneau cover, I had to leave enough room for the stack but yet get it in the corner good enough that it wasnt too far out in the bed. I took a 4" pipe that I had left over that I used as a template, crawled inside the bed and put it about where I figured it was going to end up. I got it very close as I had the frame work underneath to help guide me from corner to corner, and it worked. I marked it with a marker and then pulled the cover off and we cut it after using a compass on it to get a perfect circle. The wife did the rest.

As far as where the "T" comes thru the bed. I crawled underneath the truck and found out where I would be away from the driveshaft, yet be close enough to the stock line up of exhaust. As for cutting the hole, I tried using the hole saw but it was just too dull. ended up disconnecting the batteries and using the Plasma cutter ( nice job ) for finishing. Now, on the "T" , where it comes though the bed, a bracket was welded and was then attached by bolts to the bed for stability.

As far as using one stack, that choice is up to each person. Personally I like the two stack set-up myself and both stacks are functional. Depends on what YOU like best.
Hope this helps.

Don
