stack out of the hood?

hey everyone i want to put a stack out of the hood. i have seen this done on the truck pulls. my idea was to use the stock pipe and bend it up, then install a 4" to 5" on the hood so the other pipe fits inside of it. so i can open and close. my worrie is rain.

Is it a truck you drive on the street or a play toy? That would work great, check out Big Bad Dodge's wwebsite he has some good pics! I wish I could do a hood stack

on a street truck, I'm pretty sure the exhaust must exist behind the passenger area.

You are correct on a street truck the exhaust must come out behind the passenger cabin. It would be cool to have a stack coming out of the hood, but it would probably be pretty nasty lots of smoke hitting the windshield.

I do believe it has to be behind the pass. area. There was a guy running a stack from the hood around here(central Indiana) a while back on his street truck.

It should be federal law I would think, it would make sense... It's just a concern with carbon monoxide and other harmful polutants.

Be careful on right hand turns with low boost......you won't be able to see much but smoke........

A stack out of the hood is not very practical for everyday use.

Well it might not be very practical, but I bet it will definatly look awesome. As long as you don't be TOO STUPID in town, and don't black it out, i'm sure the cops won't mess with ya to much, they gotta alot more important things going on to worry about. My buddy's about to put one on in the next few days, we'll post ya some pics!

Hood stacks are okay, but IMO they should only be for purpose built pullers and drag racers. A hood stack on a street driven truck is just kind of cheezy IMO.
