Sputtering at 1500 rpm with Quadzilla Standard

I hooked up a Quadzilla Standard box to a 2000 1 ton dually 4x4 standard tranny with 240,000 miles on it for a friend. Tranny just been rebuilt and fuel system has been refurbished...(not sure what was done). My friends only complaint is driving through town at approx 35mph at approx 1500-1600 rpms the truck sputters like it's missing or what he called "floating the valves". As far as I know I hooked up the quad correctly and used dielectrode grease. Only other thing I could do is soder the two wires that get spliced into the system. One other thing I found today as I installed a BHAF was I found the turbo shaft has about 1.5mm of play in it. You can see it and feel it move. I don't know how much play should be allowed but it didn't feel right to me. Also the fins wouldn't spin very easily. My truck will spin them about 2-3 rotations before it stops. His will spin once. He is otherwise happy with the power he's getting from the chip.
Sorry for length but hope to get some answers for this soon.
thanks Jamie

Turbo play depends on the direction. I don't remember if sidde to side is ok but in-out is bad, or vice versa.

I also have the sputter you are describing, and am working with Quad and Roark at Quadzilla for a fix. I should be receiving a new Standard Module tomorrow for more testing. I have some posts to this in my "Tap or No" thread. I will keep you posted. Quad and company are being really good with me, sending me a different module this past Monday which didn't correct the problem, and now sending me a unit that should be the fix. All on their dime, with pre-paid shipping for return. I find that great service!! When is the last time you bought something for a vehicle, found it didn't work, and had the company contact you personally to help FIND a solution, instead of just make excuses or refund your money? They are definitely high on my list of reputable companies to do business with!!

I have the same problem with my truck, the timing is getting thrown off at low RPMs. And so Roark is sending me another box to try out. I am on my second test box now. If this doesn't work, I'm driving to Fort Worth and let the "engineers" have at.

I am pretty sure we fixed it today. We were finally able to get a truck at our facility that had this issue and that helped tremendously as our test truck will not do it under any circumstance.

Well, the culprit has to do with the MAP sensor. It is not that the sensor is bad but, it appears some of them are really noisy or have some sort of interference problem. When watching the signal for the map at an extremely high sample rate we could see the signal actually spiking up to an around 5 or 6 psi at idle. Well we have filtering on our boost input but, it was doing it enough that we thought we were seeing 6 psi and we were triggering the pump accordingly which was causing this miss. It is not actually a miss but, too much fuel for idle.

So after we figured this out we checked our truck and it has the same anomoly but, much less pronounced which is why it never had the problem. I am guessing it is a sensor to sensor issue and now it should not be a sensor issue as we changed up a bunch of stuff.

Oh, and while we were messing with it we had some clever ideas and all I have to say is above 70% throttle you better hang on, it will flat get it!

So we have a good handful of these sent out to people to make sure what we found is indeed the same issue as what others are experiencing. I am pretty sure it is because now that we can see it physically it all makes sense. Before I could not figure out how we were loosing time?? We have tried and twisted everything except the right thing.

So, as you guys get it make sure you let us know. I have a list of about 16 guys or so total. If you are not on that list or have not spoke to Roark about it you need to do so ASAP so you get it fixed!

So at this point I am really, really confident that the issue is 100% solved but, after all the goofy stuff I have seen I am still crossing my fingers.

quad miss

I had the same problem. They to sent me several modules & none fixed the problem. Check your alerts too, if you have the comander. Some did not work after the firmware upgrade. I sent mine back & got a full refund. I am running the Edge Juice with attitude now. I have had it for 3 months & not 1 problem. Good luck.

Hey, I read on here that someone had an Edge and it had an issue.

RUN, you better send yours back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would sure enjoy meeting you someday.

And in reality, V 1.4.3 of the Commander is pretty much flawless. Our box makes more power than the Juice and these guys will be able to stomp you if they see you on the street.

I personally can not complain about service, at all. I have been called personally about the problem, been sent pm's with course of action information, and been sent different modules to try. I paid a fair price for a powerful box, and have gotten support from the company to help make the problems better. I like that. The fact that they are diligently working with owners to discover what is causing the issue with a few trucks is very commendable, rather than insisting something is definitely wrong with my truck and not with their product. I have been down that road before with other vehicles/parts. I do not personally have any reasons to place negative advertising in my list of modifications. I have lots of positive items to use the character limit for.

I want to clarify some of my last post -- I recognize other people's opinions, and greatly appreciate hearing all sides regarding issues, products, etc. I also like to see the sides expressed in all related threads, since I have seen many subjects lacking true depth since the people with differing opinions may not have seen the thread, or decided not to post for whatever reason. What I am discouraged by is the negative advertising of vendor products in signatures. I am not at all in favor of bringing down another compay's products with every post. I like to see what everyone uses, so by all means please list mods and preferences, but there isn't really any call to bash a competitor with every posting. Especially when it appears that the company refunded the money spent in full, after attempting to resolve the issue in good faith. I have read several Quadzilla product threads before deciding to order mine, and saw the stories unfold about what support was offerred and accepted by numerous folks on here. I also read of many issues with other products and the support offerred by them. All have strengths and weaknesses, but none deserve to be bashed in a signature with every post whether relavant to the subject or not. Again, this is my opinion, freely expressed as cordially and articulately as possible. I do not intend to flame or personally attack the other member that has their opinion /experience in their signature. I will step off the soap box for now.
