I agree. I've been running around with my map unplugged for a while now and my spoolup is unaffected.

if i unplug the map sensor and diagnostic plug, do i still need to unplug the wire tap?

also, if the MAP was unplugged, how could the faulty MAP affect spool up?

i will check and clear the codes tonight with the smarty

You don't need to untap the wire to unplug the comp. Just remove all of the plugs, gorund, and power.

I agree that if the map is unplugged then it shouldn't have any effect on the spoolup. Even if it's faulty.

Damed if I know. Seriously, it's a good question but with an Automatic..... it is what it is, and I'm watching other things when I go WOT.

By "light off" I assume you mean at what rpm does it start rapid jump to 45 psi? I will test it today... watching rpm's... and report back!

id liek to know as well...mine i can roll into the throttle at 1700rpms and it starts smoking like a chimney, i have 10psi at 2200rpms and by 2500 its holding 45psi and everything just gets crazy, the noise, the acceleration, the excitement factor...but before then this truck is as boring as a stock gasser truck

You guys had me curious, so I found an excuse to run into town.
My turbo starts a rapid climb to 45 psi at 1950-2000 rpm. (just under 2000).

Both needles are moving pretty fast, so it's hard to be positive... but I would say I hit 45 psi (wastegate setting) right at 2300 rpm.

By comparison, it sounds to me like your Lil 55/16 is doing about what it should!

not according to JR...he says that both the guys who had this on their truck were lighting it at 1700-1900, one was a 12v and one was a 24v

I would ask them to define lighting off!
My 55/14 starts building boost well under 2000 rpm, Climbs rather slowly to 12 psi boost and then rapid jump to 45 psi at 1950 rpm.
Did not try it from a dead stop and WOT... may be different??

he defines lighting off or spooling as the rapid jump from about 10-45psi...that was at 1700-1900 on the other trucks. on my truck i have 10 psi until 2200...then it starts to build and by 2500 i finally have 45psi...oh yea, then it defuels and its pointless

[quote author=clawson board=cp3 thread=1141305864 post=1141357487]My little 55 spooled around 1800 and then just took off.

That is the only bad thing about not buying a "new" one or buying it off anyone you know.

My 55 also had the 14cm housing.

I found these on various other boards. These are post by actual owners and not the vendor. Im just trying to help here.
