I make sure that all of your bushings are in good shape and also, is there a bolt or a "rod end" style attachment at the frame for the aftermarket track bar? If it is a bolt, make sure there is a large tapered cone style washer in there as well or it will drive like crap. My truck drives awesome with 7.5" of lift!

Here's something I'm going to try for thr wandering steering problem. Try emailing marv@solidsteel.ca. They make a neat brace the stabalizes the steering box

Remove all the suspension and weld some blocks on to the axle and then to the frame. That should solve your problem.

DMA251,
I would agree with everyone else too by putting your 285's back on, or doing the lif early, then alignment, then see what it does.
PowerWagon: when I bought my truck last spring, it had 35k miles on it and was all over the road, almost impossible to keep in a straight line. Took it to the dealer and they replaced upper & lower ball joints, tie rods, and trac bar under warranty. I think the only culprit was the ball joints because once the tie rods were disconnected, you could not turn either wheel left or right by hand. So, what was happening was that if you corrected to the right while going down the road, the wheels would stay in that position, then you correct to the left and there they would stay...constantly back & forth....pita ! All works fine now, but they put the same kind of crappy un-greasable stock joints in. Next time I'm doing the job with some Napa or Moog joints with zerks.

DMA251, I would bet that your problem is your control arms are too short right now. Is the tire centered in the wheel well? If you just put in the spacers and nothing else, I am willing to bet that it is way back towards the cab. The fix is new control arms, at least lower. I would put the old tires back on, sell the spacers on ebay and wait for the lift. It should come with all new control arms and drop down brackets that are necessary.

Moose 10 u describe the same thing when i took off my tie rod ends! it took all i had to move the tire by hand! so it must be bad ball joints.
