Re:Spacer for dually's

I think its dangerous for guys that pull or haul near maximum weight all of the time but if you do want the spacers do not buy aluminum ones, about the stongest one you can get are made from billet steel and the only place I have found them is a company in CA. called offroad unlimited or ORU. And they were around $500.00.

Re:Spacer for dually's

;DOK, I use spacers, I have been for the last three years or so. I was a little "nervous" about the whole thing at first, but they have proven to been very reliable, safe, and all they were advertised to be. YES, mine are also made of ALUMINUM,6061-T6 BILLET. I got them from www.performancewheel.com they seem to be a good company to deal with. When I first got them, I was a little parinoid, I mounted them drove around for about 5 miles, pulled the tires and checked everything out, it was fine. I then re-mounted everything and went for about 50-75 miles, pulled tire again, and again everything was fine. I just wanted to be shure nothing was comming loose, or malfunctioning. I torque all the nuts to 140 lbs, both enter and outer nuts. Then when i went to tow for the fisrt time with the spacers, I repeated the process, pulled everything just like above. I know it was alot of work, but I had never known anyone to run spacers and just like you guys here, everyone was affraid of something new, so I did all this to satisfy my own doubts. I can now same with some confidence, that I am very confident in MY spacers, and the ones that PERFORMANCE WHEEL sells. We have towed to the keys, New Mexico,, meany states and have not had a problem. I rotate my tire offten, and I always take a very carefull look at the spacers, they have passed very inspection.
I do not mean to imply that anyone who runs spacers would have to do all that I have mentioned, I only did that for my peace of mind. But the fact is, they do work, and work safely. Also, I use a 1 1/4" spacer, I did need it to clear the larger tires I run. It would not have been a problem if I would have never hauled heavey loads, but I do. My gooseneck is around 13-14k lbs. and the tounge weight is about 3000-3500 lbs. .

Has anybody on hear run or have seen 285's on a dually. I mounted a 285 today and will try it on tonight. Looks like I will need a least a 2.5" spacer. They may stick out to far past the fenders. If they fit it will look cool!

I'm running BF Goodrich 315 AT's and 2" spacers. I got my spacers from Performance Tool Service in Houston, TX (713-378-0348). I think I paid $485.

Hey HockleyHideout I have the same truck as you even the same colour. Are you running the stock rims with those tire? and all you are using is a 2" spacer. I just bolted on a 285 and I will need at least a 2" spacer to get a little room between the tire. I carry big weight. How much do you have between your tires? It is hard to tell from the pictures

Injector Jack,

I'm running the stock rims and I have plenty of room in between the tires. They don't touch at the bottom when loaded. I don't carry "big weight" so I can only say they work great for me. If you would like to email me I can take more pictures tomorrow so you can see how much space I have.

I run 2" steel spacers between my two 38.5x11x16's. They're under a 7" skyjacker lift. Never had a worry or any problems with them. It's a dually.... even if one of the wheels fell off I'd still have one more. The spacer bolts on seperately than the outer wheel. So there's 16 lugs on each side of the truck in the rear. So should a wheel spacer break the inner tire is still attached. No worrys. not like I'm hauling alot on 39" tires.
