Southbend clutch choice

Clutch slips, time for new one - going to go with southbend. Deciding between OFE or FE. I plan on adding 100-175 horse injectors, air intake, and eventually turbo to clean it up. I tow a car trailer with a wheeler on occasion but don't romp on it when doing so. Truck is a daily driver, I don't plan on racing competitively but enjoy mashing on it around town and on the highway. I want a smoother engagement, will the OFE hold up and not slip? Mind you this would be with E/A on 5 hot unlock, 150+ hp injectors. Or should I go with the FE?

Had the FE, its quite grabby especially when parking a trailer. I fried mine after maybe 10,000 with very little abuse. I can tell you once you get used to it its a good clutch, it just can't handle ANY abuse. I went with a double disc and life is good now.

Pony up for the dual disc. Smooth engagement, and you will need a lot of power to slip it. And the non-sfi certified clutches are very reasonably priced. I have the 3250 sprung hub in my 12v, and it drives as good as stock.

I have the FE and it's grabby. Probably too grabby for towing unless you have like 4.56 gears or something.

I have the ofe and love it. I haven't been able to slip it in 60k miles with around 360 hp. I believe the ofe is rated to 450hp and I believe that is a trustworthy figure. I tow lots of livestock where smooth engagement is a necessity and after about 1000 miles of break-in the ofe is just as smooth as stock with a little firmer pedal

I have a SB ofe in a '97 that dyno's @ 360 hp. It's not as smooth as oriiginal equip, but does just fine backing loaded dump trailers weighing 5 - 10000 lbs. I believe they are rated to hold 450 hp/ 900 ft lbs. The boys @ SB were very helpful and told me the dual disk was overkill in my situation. My brother has the same year truck that dyno's 550 hp and he had to go to the double.
