South Bend slipping :(
Tonight I was driving the truck in my sig and I'll admit I was being pretty hard on it. I took a 90* right turn from a dead stop, and I mashed on it. It burned the tires through 3rd and when I grabbed 4th and 5th I thought the tires were still spining, but this has never happened before so I went out on some back roads to test it out. First I took off from a dead stop in a straight line with out spinning the tires and went through all the gears and everything was fine
I tried a slow right hand turn with tires spinning and as soon as i hit 4th and 5th the clutch slipped BAD
, So whats the deal? New clutch time?
Thanks
~Matt

Just a thought...
I had the 95 in my sig (if its still there)
370's 191dv's and a 0 plate with a hx40 (well for about 15 min anyway)
and never slipped the same clutch, sounds freaky, mine was a dually and i dropped it a few times at 3600+ and never slipped it...
Id check for oil leaks or a bad slave

It is the way you drive, mine does the same thing if I run the gears really quick, I had the 13.125 ofe and peter upgraded it to a 13.125 fe due to slippage after the clutch engaged but it does the same thing the only way I can get rid of it is to give the clutch more time to grab before hitting the throttle again, which usually loses me the race
. In hindsight I should have bought a SBC DD but I believed the 550 rwhp statment before actually doing some research, when this clutch goes I will be calling peter for a DD replacment with the bigger input shaft conversion
. I think the clutch is TOP NOTCH and there service and peter are even better but the clutch does not like to be slipped and driving it hard and fast will cause it to slip, once it is in engage good luck slipping it however, you just aren't going to run it hard through the gears putting down good horsepower without it slipping in the cummins torque range.I believe this is why SB is know offering the street friendly SBC DD clutches for guys like myself. My head scratches when I hear of guys pulling sleds while runinng a fe and slipping it off the line to build boost, I have no idea how that truck acutally grabs.
Off course that is my two cents
