South Bend Clutch Double Disk
Well its here!! And all I can say is its GREAT!!

The clutch is very quiet due to the design of the center plate. And it has a billet flywheel.
The engagment is very smoth and has a softer peddle than most all of the SBC clutches that I have ran. Its driving mannors are VERY tame!!

The install on this will be no more difficult than installing a STOCK clutch.

The performance of the clutch so far is near perfect. Time and sled pulls will tell really how well this clutch will perform. With a THIRD gear launch I spun the tires for 250' to 300'.

The price of the clutch will be between $1,600 and $1,700.
For any tech questions on the "DD" clutch please contact South Bend Clutch.

J.R.

Re:South Bend Clutch Double Disk
How are these double disc clutches for street use? I need a new clutch now and I am constantly drag racing people and wish I could launch hard in 3rd gear. I was told not to slip a CON FE much or it would die. I am only running about 425HP. Oh yah do they make em for the NV5600?

TIA

I have started out slipping the clutch on purpose in third gear with 50 lbs. of boost heating it up and letting it engage then smoking the tires down the street!! I believe that SBC is making this clutch for the 5600 but I could be wrong. Better call Peter at 800-988-4345.
billet flywheel?
Yes it has a billet flywheel.

After 400 hard miles this clutch keeps getting better! It has gotten just a lil grabby but is still less than my 13" FE. What more can you expect from a twin disk? It looks like a winner to me!!
J.R.
Re:South Bend Clutch Double Disk
UPDATE!!!

I towed a light 6k load with the truck yesterday. All tho I am WAY overfuled to tow!! The clutch was great!! It shifted fine. And from a dead stop it took off just fine. I was a little worried about the takes off's with this clutch.(because I had never towed with it) But after towing its engagement was even smoother than unloaded. Dont get me wrong, it dorve really well with no load behind it! But it really shined with the trailer in tow pulling up the hills!

J.R.

Re:South Bend Clutch Double Disk
So are you claiming this clutch is as tame as an OFE? That would be great because I promised my wife I wouldnt put a clutch in that increased pedal effort or is grabby etc. since she is the one who backs the boat in. This could change my upgrade path since I thought I was going to be limited to around 400 hp or so.

Re:South Bend Clutch Double Disk
The clutch is a lil grabby with out a load on it(still not as grabby as my 13" fe), but with a load on it she really tamed out. The peddle effort is very nice! Call Peter at SBC. 1-800-988-4345

J.R.
