Interesting, same basic product, different advertised uses, 5x price difference. I looked at the stick on sound deading from a stereo store, and moved on due to price. I was told in the store that that the stick on works best for vibration dampening. In the world of diesel, every bit helps. I wish I had thought of the bitchathane when I did my interior.

 

The stuff we were talking about in the other thread was in like 36"X50 foot rolls (aprox. $40 a roll, same stuff, but probably a bi-atch to work with.)

It is about 1/8" thick and I have never seen it with foil. It is know as "Ice and Water Shield" and is used (here in the Mid Atlantic) as the the first row of roof underlayment by the gutters. It's pursose (in roofing) is for valleys, odd dips or transisions or like I said at the bottom to make sure Ice Dam doesn't penetrate the roof. I've heard up North they use it on the whole roof in place of 30lb. felt.


I ended up using tow small sheets of actual foil backed no-name dynamat. Obviously if I had the whole truck torn apart I would have went Eskimo's route with it. I was simply making sure my front speakers weren't going to rattle the door.
