The stock gasket kit from cummins is cheap, almost $175 is what I paid for one with injector washers and o-rings (they don't come in the kit). Check my gallery later when the admins approve my pics, you'll see the o-rings and the marine gasket.

i know these things:

-I need head studs

now, this is where i need to decided if the marine gasket, a new (possibly ported) head is needed, as well as valves/guides etc etc.
If you have an HO truck a marine gasket would help reduce compression since it is thicker thus alleviating some strain on the HG in the future. When I do my head (I've got studs already and it's holding for now), I'll oring, port and polish, valve seats, and a marine gasket.

While your head is coming off (I know you've dropped some coin lately) you may as well suck it up and oring and stud it. Sorry for the trouble, but you've got the golden excuse to go ahead and do it.......I've kind of been looking for that same excuse......lol.....

You could go see Timinva on this board - http://trediesel.com/ . I don't know how far you are from VA Beach, but he can help you out. I brought a beautiful head from him to a buddy of mine down here.

i emailed Timinva, we'll see what his price is. if the price is right i may just take the truck somewhere and have the person do the entire job rather than pulling the head myself
