Of course, if the boot nipples (am I allowed to say that? ) don't have a bead roll on the end, it's something of an uphill battle to avoid blow-off at higher boost pressures.
Again - de rigueur for twins!
You should be able to fab up some crazy awesome boots or something with the XLR8R magic.

All the best stuff is out there - but not in one place... we'll have that fixed before winter's over, timed to release with our twins project.

I apologize for what you went through with the old style boots. Any time you develop a product there are always going to be revisions made to improve the product. We have changed to a cross weaved material now which is much stronger than the old style. I know it is frustrating to have a failure, but if there is anything I can do for you on a new set let me know.

Maybe would not have to reattach 'blown' boot if you used the springs. I don't believe they are just for looks?
Not being a wise guy.... just believe they serve a purpose.

RowJ, I appreciate your comment concerning constant tension spring clamps serving their purpose, but it just isn’t true if the spring is stacked closed. I have read on the BD site that the spring clamp should be tightened to the point where the spring is just stacked. I found the boot blew off at about 35 psi under that condition. All the pipes were clean of oil so I tried a few more turns to get them to stay on. The few more turns after the spring is stacked is just compressing the silicon rubber and it still blew off at about 50 psi. It was then I took out a torque wrench to see how tight the clamps were. They were all over the place with the tightest one being about 60 inch pounds. I then cranked them all to 100 inch pounds using the springs but realized the springs were serving no purpose at that point. The spacers I added to replace the springs just aid in the speed of removal and tightening. The constant tension (which is not really constant) is now provided by the compressed silicon hose and hot or cold is now holding well at 60 psi.

I have no problems with the blue (ford color) boots and do like the long threaded nuts providing a strip free thread. The idea of using a light spring to provide enough clamping force for the BD compound turbos is just inadequate to get the job done.

I am sure the heavy boots are better at holding under high pressure.

Would some sort of double clamp help or be any better for blowing the boots off the tubes? Assuming install difficulty was not an issue.

I would like to see clamps with 'rolled' edges. I must have had a boot expand a bit (baloon) because the edge of the clamp cut through the rubber boot!

This was on my secondary inlet boot...not my PDR boots. I removed all turbo boot clamps and smoothed and rounded the edges as best I could. Has held ...so far.

Your explanation on the oil in my primary makes more sense to me and sounds more reasonable than the explanation I got from someone at BD.... who said it was vacume pressure from the secondary??

If you are hunting for nice clamps, with rolled edges, check out Mikalor clamps.

~$20 per clamp looks like, plus shipping which is probably $$$$$ too.

About four years ago I bought a complete set of boots, radiator, and heater hoses on a group buy on the TDR. Very high quality (made by sFs), and came with Mikalor clamps. I don't know if the hoses are still available, but I think the Mikalor's may be, so it would be U.S. shipping. All of this came from:
