Right, but that's sort of "beyond the scope" here. There's no need to go that far to make the simple point-- going to that depth would only prove the point more so.

2007 vette traps 113

http://www.dragtimes.com/Chevrolet-C...lip-10811.html

These guys with the same or less mods trapped right there with the vette

So maybe the "tow" mode would not have taken the vette (both with perfect drivers), but power to weight looks pretty even to me with the smoker on fully boogie. MPH to 113ish also takes EVERY variable into account.

Just cause a car traps at 113 does not mean that it runs the quarter that fast. A vette has much better aerodynamics, it should get higher trap speeds than a cummins both running the exact same time. Did you read that article in Diesel Power Mag, they got their project X truck up to 161 mph. That truck would kill the vette in a drag race but I'll bet my lunch money that the vette could turn in a faster top speed.

Top speed does not neccesarily mean a quick 1/4. Most land speed record vehicles get a push start, and they go smoking fast. Just not terribly quickly.

The race was from 50-100 MPH. 1/4 mile time is hugely dependent on the 60', which is not a factor at all from a 50 MPH roll. The point is they have about the same amount of power to weight over a 1/4 mile run, so a race between them from 50-100 SHOULD be very even, no reason the cummins could not have won that race and it did. The LS2's torque curve falls on it's face after 4500.

I totally believe that the truck won that race too. My truck is the roll on king. I can beat my friend's 06' Lancer EVO MR in a 40 mph rollon. My truck is a dog off the line till it builds boost and the 2-3 shift is slow for me. But a 3-4 shift is lightning fast and my truck just screams from 3rd gear on up. I'll bet that I can't touch low 15's in a quarter but I can keep up with a low 13 car in a roll on. I personally think that manual trannies are faster in rollon type races when you start in the right gear and 2000 RPM. Auto's are fast on the start cause they do all those quick shifts and boosted launches, but manual's get more power to the ground.

Maybe I should put my truck on the rollers and see how strong my tow mode really is? Maybe my sop meter needs to be calibrated to reflect my strong performing CTTD. If I ran my machers it wouldn't even been close bash. Maybe my truck is a 10 sec wagon. That would make all the calculation more accurate. I did take out all of the empty beer cans, so that did lighten up the truck some.

Exatly!
I bet the vette would do a 1.90 60' time. Those diesels listed above are probably doing 1.70-1.80s.......big difference.

Heck my SRT walks away from the vette's. I'm guessing that the SRT is a low 13's car. My truck is into 12 sec area, of course I'm not a good driver at the lights. She'll peelled the rubber off 3 tires for 5-8 ft on a 25 psi boost launch. When the last time someone did that in a vette.

Funny this thread should come up since I own a Z06.
Im not sure what mods these people have done to BEAT a z06 but please let me know. My truck weighs more then 2x car and the car is way more aerodynamic. What would it take to make my truck keep up with my car?

Auto would put down less. Calgary is at 3400 feet elevation.Take away another 10% from 400. Now it's 320hp at most! What was the outside temp?
We don't know all the vettes factors.

I can beat the old Z06s, here In Denver..........just barely, and I can annihilate stock SRT-10s, Lightinings, GTOs, EVOs and STis here.
That was a good kill!

its funny you should say that since your sig says you run a 13.
I ran a 11.97 COMPLETELY stock...stock tires...stock shifter...stock cai. Right off the show room floor. Completely stock I dynoed only 368hp at the wheel.

1992 W-250 ext. cab 5 spd, 3.54, posi, HTT HTB2 64/14, 38 psi max, Joe Hellmann intercooler, Rip Rook 4" exhaust, ported exh. manifold, PDR fuel pin, gov spring, Dyno-Mite Diesel #4 injectors, Banks 3rd gen High Ram, Fluidampner, South Bend 13" 4 puck single disk, piston lift pump, Snow Performance water/meth, 02 16x8 alum. wheels on Dana 80 w/disks, 455 hp/1005 trq uncorrected, 13.34 @ 102, Denver CO, Bandimere Speedway 5800 ft. Next install; Air Dog system & 1/2" pickup tube.

5-8 ft? It really depends on what tires I have on the car and how good the prep is but its very do able especially on the street. Right now I run a 335 Drag Radial and my last dyno was 478hp at the wheel.

Wrong... The race weight of my z06 weighs 3275 with me in it (I weigh 220) with a 1/4 tank of gas.

I would seriously like to know what mods I need to do in order to keep up with my car cause a high 11 second truck would kick ***. I did recently order a edge attitude with juice so hopefully that will wake my truck up.

Im always up for some friendly competition so if any of you are in the dallas area and would like to race a Z06 send me a PM and we can get something together. My car is currently tore apart because im dropping in a forged motor and a couple of hair driers but when I get it together Id be glad to give you the jump, race you from a dig, from a roll, or however you think youll have the advantage. Ill also arrange to have a camara man film it so the members of this board can see it too.

OK, this thread is taking a direction more appropriate for the competition forum.

As for getting a 24V auto into the 11s, well that's not a small accomplishment.

Start by gutting as much weight as you can and spending $6K on a better trans.

Then add dual ball bearing twins (GT37 and GT42 would be nice), some nitrous, Mach 7 injectors, and a Drag Comp.

You'll want to invest in some head mods to keep in from leaving the block.

I take it back--11s aren't that hard, they're just very expensive

Back in the day, it was much tougher because the parts didn't exist yet. Now they're out there and the cutting edge has moved on to the 9s.
