Smarty Updates
Was checking out Marco's site today and it looks like he has been busy.
There are some new updates that are available from his update page. They look interesting (especially the anti-theft ones).
Anyone try them yet?

Mike,
I haven't done it yet, but to get the new s/w into the Smarty, you need to hook a USB cable up to it from the computer. One end of the cable will be a standard USB (USB-A) and the other end will look like the end that goes into most USB printers (USB-B). If you have a USB printer, you can use that cable if it looks like the one below.
You will probably need to download the USB drivers from Marco's website as well.
Cable looks like this:

I believe you also have to download the "SmartyUSB Downloader" from that page as well. Pick which one you want (he has one optimized for Windows XP). That is probably an executable that will tell you how to install the s/w into the Smarty.

I just downloaded the drivers and installed them as per the instructions.
Then I downloaded the s/w version I wanted (version 3). It is saved as a .smt file
I then downloaded the SmartyUSB.exe program
I then ran the SmartyUSB.exe program. Select "open" from the menu and navigate to the .smt file that you saved earlier. Then hit "send".

Thanks for the info Rob, Just finished loading version 3 also. Took about 10 minutes to load. Gave me a jolt when it read erasing, but realize it had to remove the old program. I'll check it out after work tomorrow. Thank again

The erasing part is a little unnerving. Rowland was getting a little antsy when we updated his Smarty the first time. I've learned not to panic till we've had a failure and I realize I don't have any way to fix it. LOL

So if you download this new version SW#0 would no longer be "half power". Instead it would have either the "no start" or dies at load" function. Hmmmm I kinda like the option of having the half power SW.
