Smarty Revo/ Drag Comp Stack?

Is this a good stack? I still have stock head bolts and gasket...should I be thinking about studs?? Anyone have a baseline on were head gaskets pop (psi)?

do you still have a stock turbo and injectors? stock head gasket with head bolts usually lets go above 45 psi of boost. mine has seen 50 psi and is still fine

You can take 45-50 as a basic guideline, but there is no set number at which head gaskets go. There are a number of variables in play and boost is only one of them.

As for the stack, the Smarty will give you some additional low-end over what the Edge Comp does. You'll need to run the Smarty on an even numbered program (or any program where you change to stock timing) otherwise you will have too much timing advance.

With that stock turbo, you don't want anymore than 35psi anyway. Anything beyond 35 is outside of the efficiency range of that turbo and is just making hot air.

acording to Bob Wagner on the new revo program if you adjust the defaults in the setting all software #'s will do extra timing. Just a heads up.

True. You just have to either stick with default timing on the even levels, or go with stock timing on the odd numbered levels.

Yeah, the upper limit for the stock turbo is around 35psi. Once you push past that, you're adding more heat to the air because the compressor is no longer efficient. Part of the extra boost you see is just because of the expansion of the heated air.

If anything, you may actually be making things hotter with the extra air as opposed to cooling it down. If you have an adjustable boost elbow, you want to open it up a bit more to let the wastegate open sooner.

Yeah, that's the one. The allen screw is used to adjust the size of the opening.

Not sure why your only getting 20 psi....I have injectors and a DRAG comp...if yours is just a comp, than maybe thats the difference....Do you have the boost elbow or the wastegate blocked?

Bpollard1248 your 2001 has the hy35. It has a fixed hard line for the wastegate. You need to put a turn buckle set up on your wastegate accuator. Your only seeing 20 lbs because thats where the stock gate opens. Do a search and your will find out about the turn buckle.
