What's the straight poop? I'm not looking to build a monster. I pull a fairly heavy toy hauler quite a bit. Currently at cruise with the trailer I am running about 850 - 900 EGTs. It seems every time I turn around I am putting money in the truck (just had FASS installed, need new tires soon). Honest opinion, is a Smarty worth the money for a little better pulling power?

Do you have any other fueling enhancements? A smarty is a great addition to a stock truck.

I would strongly recommend trying one before you buy. I think you can get extra pulling power for less money, Quadzilla for example or Edge EZ.

Smarty used to be the best there was for low RPM grunt, but Quadzilla has changed that opinion drastically since he released the XZT+ and the nearly completed Adrenaline.

Smarty does have features that are not available with the Quadzilla boxes like a code reader and speedo recalibration, but those features are available in other programmers too.

No. I'm not even considering injectors or a performance pump. I basically bought the FASS because my last LP lasted less than 5 months. I would just like a little more get-up-and-go when pulling.

Find someone in your area that has one you can try. Preferably with the toy hauler in tow. I'd make sure you like it towing before plunking down the cash.

Do you have gauges? You will need them.

You might send Bob Wagner a PM and he could help you out with trying one out...

I keep my Smarty to check codes. Like mentioned, the Smarty was top of the line for towing & low end grunt for a long time. Times have changed when quadzilla released the XZT+. It already has a list of different downloads a page long with more to come. Smarty has a list of promised updates with no follow through. I would get the XZT+, it has every bit the lowend of Smarty & on the fly adjustability.

I am eager to try the quad stuff.

I had a smarty, but no longer.

Power?

I don't know how much power you're after, but I was quite satisfied with Mach 1.6's and an Edge EZ. Minimal smoke,no codes but 47re couldn't handle it w/my camper.

wow, after all the info posted here I'm possibly re-thinking the smarty purchase and going w/the alternate and the same 1.6 injectors.

I beta tested the XZT+ for quad & got lower egts, less smoke compared to Smarty. The XZT+ is smoother & has better egt control due to the on the fly adjustability. I'm not saying that the Smarty isn't a awesome tuner, It is by far the best programmer for our rigs. The quad products are the best modules available.
