Smarty Observations

Today, as I was walking towards my truck for the day I had to think of which level I wanted to try today. How cool is that!

I picked #4 (Soft Catcher) and drove all day. Seems a little touchy meaning the throttle is very responsive. Great for getting into traffic, passing, ect. But if the pavement was wet it could be interesting.

I was also able to change my tire size and correct the speedometer. It's been 5MPH off for 7 years.

I can also see what other's have said about the stock tranny not liking the Smarty higher numbers. That's a fact, but you can always enjoy the lower number's and the kick in the pants you get when you need it at a lower number.

Any other observations?

I observe that I hate you... Mostly because you have a truck and I don't. At the moment.

Observations?? My truck says it really appreciates getting the ECM program that should've been installed from the factory(SW#9). My tires and fuel budget on the other hand....

Been runnin' an EZ and DD3's for almost a year and the Smarty puts the EZ to shame.

The off-idle smoke is another pleasant surprise

Other than I want bigger injectors more than ever now. Such difficult decisions, so many choices. Which ones are ones are for me. I'm thinking one of the Mach series.

It's only a 35 HP box. Wound it make a difference? I thought the box would add power? I can certainly take it off and test it out.

Back to the Smarty observations, Please.

I cannot believe it! This AM it was 18 degrees (I forgot to plug her in) I used my remote starter and went out to the truck and it was idling at 1200 rpm! Smarty automatically adds the high idle feature! The dealer wanted $200 for that upgrade. To date I have saved $400 (by NOT paying the dealer) and using the Smarty for the updates. I hate paying the dealers anything that should be free.

EVEN LEVEL 2 is responsive and quick. Great for around town and towing.

overhead computer

Does the Smarty effect the overhead MPG on an otherwise stock '02 ETH?
Thanks,
Jack

I would guess so. In my case my tires were throwing the overhead computer off quite a bit. We'll see how it goes now that it is corrected.

My "bump" feature is gone now? When I bump the starter my fuel pump pulses 2-3 times and quits. Also, on cold start ups the LP would run for 3-4 seconds and stop. Now it is 1/2 second pulse and it stops.

Anyone else notice this? Can you check and post your results?

I believe this is due to the cold weather hard start TSB, Marco has it incorporated into the software. It's already been posted here somewhere.

My mileage is the same w/ fuel saver as it was before the smarty, but there's been a lot of idleing and a bit of romping too =\
