Smarty or injectors?
Ok I am going on a question asking spree. Hope ya'll don't mind.
I got a bonus check at work tuesday and the money is burning a hole in my pocket.
What do ya think?? Stage 3 Dr. P's injectors or a Smarty?? I can get a hardly used set of injectors for $350 and no core charge.
So far people and shops I have talked to are steering me towards injectors but I have read alot of really good things about the Smarty.
Also I have been told that my Banks brake should have some sort of adjustment on it. Anyone know of this?
And last but not least, has anyone had any experience with the BD pressure lock cylinder that increases tranny line pressure to 90% of the max holding pressure until you need more?

I would shy away from Dr. P injectors...my understanding is they are older technology. I feel there are better choices...JMO.
Can't go wrong with the Smarty. It's batting 99.9%... in terms of customer satisfaction!!
Don't know the BD pressure lock, but your tranny will need some work before it will handle serious injectors.

For your first question, that sounds pretty good as long as the injectors are all good. I would have them at least pop tested to make sure they are all good first before throughing the money at the injectors.
Second, I have no clue about the banks brake.
And third, are you talking about the valve body that increase the line pressure? I had a DTT one put in my stock tranny and it did shift alot better and stiffer. It felt like a shift kit was put in but I don't know how much it actually improved the holding pressure, it felt different.

Man I love this part of the board for some reason...
Your tranny will not like the SMARTY on #9, and sometimes on #7 if the traction is right.
I know this, I just traded my 01' Friday, but I still go tthe SMARTY...
I am about to start a thread about an experience I had yesterday with a guy at a truck accessories shop...

Not a valve body. here is the link Pressure Lock
THe shop is advanced diesel and the guy is jeff, he has been nothing but helpful so I trust him. I can't afford tranny work right now and will not be able to for some time, however I have a little cash and am looking to make as much of an improvement as the circumstance will allow. I really would like a smarty but if it is too much for the truck to handle at this point I won't bother. Jeff tells me the injectors are in good working order (they may be older but so is the truck) and I won't have to cough up the cores.

I would think a Smarty and a valve body would help you. Maybe Dave Goerend would save a few $ for an excellent VB. On those injectors, I have no opinion on them, I don't know anyone running any. I just bought Mach 6's for myself today so I'll have some BD 155hp injectors for sell soon for not much more than that. No pressure, not trying to hawk a sell, but I know these are solid injectors from a reputable company and only have 2000 miles at the most on them. It'll be a couple weeks before I get them out though. Like I said, no pressure. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

it is my understanding that it multiplies the stock fueling curve (without changing the shape) thus it should work very well with a smarty

I know the VA is not a good comparison to the Smarty...but when I went from my VA to my Jammer III's it was a night and day difference. Way more power from the injectors compared to the box. Should get my new clutch in next week so I can put the box back on
