Talking smarty/comp.anyone dyno yet?

has anyone dynoed thier smarty with and with out the comp?without the smarty my clutch was pretty muchmaxed out and with the smarty on #8 it slips in 4th and 5th quite easy,it also feels in the sop meter that its more than the 60hp its claimed to be,could it be that on a stock truck it provides 60rwhp and the more mods the higher the hp gains?my clutch is crying a river.

Based on previous reading about mixing the Smarty with another fueling/timing box, you probably won't see as huge of an increase on the peak number, as that's not where Smarty works all of its magic. The Smarty gives you a much bigger kick on the low end, so the thing I'd be looking for the on the graph is a sharp upward path to peak in the lower RPM showing that the power is coming on much earlier/faster.

Now if you have a larger turbo that is normally slow to light on the dyno, the Smarty may be just the thing to get it lit sooner which should translate into higher numbers.

I don't know what the smarty is rated at, but with the old school special catcher and a comp I did 315 and 774. That was with stock injectors and turbo. This might give you a ballpark idea.

wow im a little surprised,i figured a comp and a mad ecm would make 350-375hp and with some injectors easily go over the 400 mark.any one else dyno with a comp and a mad ecm or a smarty?

Big Blue has a thread in the Competition forum, and he laid down 398. But he is also running a DTT valve body and a KSB-1 turbo. SO he is a little past the comp/Smarty combo.

Oh yeah, he was dyno'ing with his air conditioner on. Guess he likes to be COOL while showing off.

He mentioned that his tranny was prolly holdin back quite a bit of power. since it is all stock except the VB.

Sorry yall, I didn't have the catcher on for my dyno. I figured that I was going to be stressing the trans enough just by turning the comp up. Come summer time I'll have a trans and a smarty so I'll most definately be back on the dyno.

Thanks Blue,

I'm just curious to see if a Smarty would improve my dyno numbers any. I realize the smarty is designed for down low power and driveablity and it does it well. Since it helps spool my turbo faster I wonder if the increased torque down low would be enough to raise HP any?

You might see a small increase in peak power but peak power is not what it's all about. Look at the power under the curve. Do a run with the smarty off and then one with it on and I'll bet that you get a HUGE increase down low between the two runs.
