It should work great! Couple it with some new RV 275 injectors in the future and you have a quicker, cleaner and more economical truck. I believe the '02's use a J-hook deal to increase boost to cool it.

Sounds like Edge was real fair with you.

Another update

Ok I've had my new Edge EZ hooked up for about 2 weeks. Completely different box. Has the in-cab switch to change on the fly. Nice feature.

Guess what.....it does the same thing

Someone really needs to explain to me what I'm hearing/feeling. I don't think I got 2 bad boxes. I think this is the way these tuning boxes work.

I get a surge/pulse/lope/***'d up noise between 1500-1600 rpm. Sounds like it's changing timing. When accelerating you don't notice it because you blow through that range, but when you try to cruise, it's there. However, it's not as bad on level 2 as it is on 3.

I can't imagine that something is wrong with the truck because I can unplug the box and it's smooth as butter, just not as fun.

I called Edge again and they told me that they've never heard of this. Usually when they get bad boxes, they either work or they don't.

The in cab switch would be a nice addition.
I drove my truck to work yesterday to see if I could simulate your 1500-1600 cruise issue, it ran perfectly.

Do the boost/fuel pressure or EGTs fluctuate in that range while it is happening?

No, the gauges hold steady. On the advice of a local shop, I reset my APPS yesterday and that took away about 90% of the surging. We'll see how long it lasts. If it comes back I'm done with Edge, my truck ran great without that box, slow, but smooth as silk.

Interesting note: The shop did tell me that they stopped selling the EZ because of customer complaints about this issue. Apparently the VP trucks were a shot in the dark whether they took kindly to that box or didn't.
