Yeah i just hate wrestling to get in back there but my old #5 in a 180 pump the arm was going below the plate and hanging up. high egts no power. i just hadnt run into a situation where the arm hit the plate in the middle of the curve and still had no power but it makes sense

Yep. It doesent matter what plate you are running. They all have the bottom lip, and it can get under the lip, or be to far down, and the truck will run like a dog. My truck ran probably just a little better than stock when my Gov lever arm was out of adjustment. Adjusted it, and all is well.

I agree with the gov arm adjustment and it is within reason right now, i need to bring it up a hair more whats driving me nuts now is the AFC is slid all the way forward, the plate is 1/2 forward, the gov arm is 1/4 of the way down on the plate profile when it makes contact. What ic ant figure out is i have the AFC star wheel adjusted to the point that i can slide the spring back and forth a 1/4-3/8 of an inch its full forward probably 2 full turns from being beyond where i can adjust it through the hole.
As soon as boost hits she builds 42 psi right now but there is no smoke getting going, actually its light smoke but for as far as she is adjusted it should blacken a street and occassionally it will burp and billow black smoke then its right back to running lean. Dont get me wrong i dont want billowing clouds but im trying to adjust it and its fighting me.
Right now i have the 12cm housing on is it possable that its spooling up so quick that the low boost fueling isnt spending much time controlling the fuel? fuel check is quite and is sitting at 1/2" in spring tension maybe a hair more.
I'll try replacing it with another one. idle is set at 850-900rpm and lift pump is pushing 18-22 psi at idle?
im baffled

Hmmmm. I dont know then. It should cloud the road until you get boost. My truck will lay it out thick in overdrive at about 1500rpm's before it spools, and i have the tiny pump. I suggest moving the plate full forward and see what that does.

Gov arm is adjusted properly hits on the low point of the plate but not below, plate is centered.
New lift pump installed
New fuel overflow valve
New fuel filter
Fuel heater and filter are in good shape as is the gasket. Timing is not done yet, 12cm housing is on right now
No apparent fuel leaks checked all lines. AFC is slid forward and the star wheel is 3/4-7/8 of the way adjusted forward to where the spring almost slides freely. The truck blows smoke if i go one more full rotation but right now its nice and clean just low soot the usual haze all my other 12vs have been adjusted to have at sea level. (which is good) but for as far forward as she is it whould roll the smoke between 0-6 psi and it does not. Every once in axhile it will burp for no reason and just blacken an interesection to the point where you can see it but the rest of the time pulling out with a trailer or just driving it at 3/4 throttle out of a light its for the most part not the big smoke show my old 180 hp pump used to throw with less wheel adjustment.
6psi-42psi is all there and it moves alright takes about 5 seconds at WOT to go from 700 degrees- 1300/1400 so the mid and top is there. 1400-2100rpm runs like a striped cat but 2200+ she falls off (no suprise)
any suggestions now, is there something in the AFC housing that might be causing me an issue a bad diaphram or something?
I dont think just moving the plate forward right now is going to give me a solution as the issue appears to be involving the afc not the and the boost on power w/ the gov arm right?

Have you thought about removing the rack/arm from AFC and then going for a test drive? That way you could completely rule out if it is the AFC arm getting in the way of the governor arm and limiting governor arm travel.....I suppose you could just unbolt the AFC housing and test drive without it.....not much oil would spill out but you wouldn't want to let any dirt in either. If the truck runs the same without the AFC arm in the way, you know to look else where.

How would it effect my truck if my Gov arm is about 1/8" too high? I'm running a 100 plate... just wondered if it's a problem. Doesn't seem to effect power or top end. That dag burned 100 plate is etin' my stock clutch!

it would act more like a #0 plate than a #100 with the arm to high.
and just remove the afc and lay it back out of the way, cover the hole up with a rag or tape it shut and take the truck for a drive. if your afc is sticking it will be a dog.

Its looking like its in the AFC.
removed AFC drove it and it bellered black smoke like she should when loose like that. Thinking either a bur ont he shaft or pin hole on the shaft
thanks all will keep ya posted.
Gov arm is definately not falling below the plate, ive got it adjusted right to the tit p of the curve where it should be when shut off arm is up and throttle is pulled back.
