single vs. triple help me deside
trans slipped really really really bad tonight under normal / little heaver then normal but by no means hard throttle at all Sooooooooooooooo.......
ok this has been covered a few times so dont flame me about asking again as i have just spent the last 2.5-3 hrs searching two sites on which kind of TC to go with and have not found my anwser. i dont know weather to go to with a single or triple disk. i know im going DAVE because of his warrenty. i dont pull all that often this is a DD/fun truck with very few pulls and drag strips on the weekends max 10 a year combined. my mods in my sig are current except i have added a HTT killer b 64/14.
my main concern is having the single not be enough will i have any problems and also doesn't dave let you use a single as credit toward the upgrade to a triple later?
thanks

Yes you can use his singal as credit to the triple if needbe. Ive been running his 3 disc for almost 2 years now and cant complain at all. Yea its a bit more expensive but it works great. Its up to your $$$ but id say go with the triple and be done.

the only reason i am thinking single for now is becasue i dont really have the money for a trans right now and they are just cheaper and if it will hold for till at least till i can afford a triple then im all for it i think

I have a single disk and it holds fine. I make over 630hp, and have over 1000 1/4 mile passes, and have never had the TC slip that I could tell.
What I would suggest is ask the person that is going to build your trans, and do what they say. There is more to getting a single to hold then just the TC itself. If the person that does the valve body mods says to use a triple disk, then I would go with that. If they recommend a single then put in a single. Just my $.02 worth.

Totally agree with Paul. It's a mistake to view a triple as "better" than a single (or worse)...or stronger... or longer lasting. But that may be the way Dave builds them?
Your Converter is a piece of the whole and must be matched the the other components for best results. Tell your builder your HP goals and let him guide you based on his experience.... and the parts he uses!

Same here. While I ain't got a ton of drag racing launches or trailer pulling I've got a heavy right foot that likes to do a lot of full throttle standing starts with 500+hp and I ain't slipped it yet.

Kyle, this is why I had you drive my truck when you come down for the stacks!!lol, so you didnt hav to wrack your brain on a decision like this....
Although, I think a single will work great for your aplication...

Keep in mind that the responses you're getting for high HP singles are from DTT trannies. DTT's approach is different than Dave's. A DTT relies on pressure to hold in lockup, while Dave relies on surface area to hold the high HP. You really need to give Dave a call if that's who you're going with. Tell him your situation and your goals with the truck and he will set you up right.
