Has anyone converted a single rear wheel 3/4 ton to a dually?

I am in the process of this right now.

Hey buds, got any idea how much the adapters add in weight to the truck?

I got a dually rearend for my install. Those adapters combined with the 2500 rear are going to be lighter than the 3500 dually rear.

i will be going with the adapters myself. Just curious as to what kind of weight I am looking at for the front/rears.

I was around 6900 before, took off my bed, took off my crappy gooseneck hitch, adding a 5th wheel hitch. I am thinking I can keep it at 7K after the dually. Just trying to figure it out since I will be "for hire" and want to stay under 26k. My 5th wheel hitch setup is 170 lbs.

Not really.each apapter wieghs about 45 to 50 pound a piece the rearend in my 2500 is the same as 3500 just the hubs are different. So really mine is going to wiegh around 40 pounds heavier.

dsl,
the bed was 2900 adapters was 606 wheels 1100 tires was 1050 then i added toolboxes 348 a piece .The bed has leds.Any other questions that i can answer let me know.

I can tell you that the difference between a Dana 70 SRW and a Dana 80 Dually is dramatic, I don't know about the AAM axles in the 3rd gen. but this is in the 1st and 2nd gen. section. The dually Drums -pre 2001 are much heavier than the SRW drums.

Did a conversion myself. I will say one thing, it tows much better.
It has a much more stable feel when you are towing.
My situation is a little different, I added a utility body, filled it with tools I need for the const company.
I have it hooked to a 12k trailer and on any given day there is about 11k on the trailer. Haven't weighed the truck yet with or without the conversion, tools, hooked to trailer, loaded trailer, you get the idea.
I feel much better driving down the road with the truck as a dually though.
Fuel mileage, can't really say if it has changed much.
I typically fuel the equipment daily and if I see the truck below 1/2, I fuel it.
The one thing I can't stress enough is this. Don't buy cheap tires, make sure you get 10 ply, load range E, 235/85/16, Good tires make the difference in a good handling, good hauling truck.
Pics of the conversion are in my gallery.
