Silver bullet vs htt 71 series 66 or????
I have a 97 auto 215 pump zero plate, gutted afc and 370s, Soon gonna put 435 injectors, .093 injection lines, laser cuts, 4000 gov springs, and a big single. Im just puzzled on what turbo to get, the truck isnt a daily driver and i dont tow just need some help picking the right one. Im hoping to have around 600+hp.
I had in mind one of these
1) Silver bullet 66
2)htt 71 series 66
3)aurora 5000(but since I dont have the head o ringed and studs i think this one isnt a choice because its non wastegated)
Any help would be nice and does 600hp sound right with these mods?
Thanks,
Josh

What do you use the truck for? If it's for a sled puller you could run a GT42 at about 60PSI and do pretty well. Joefarmer has one for sale in the classifieds. I made a thread not long ago with the exact same choices and I believe the general concesus is that they all CAN do it with the proper tuning but the A5K would push the most air and then followed by the SB66. With street driving the A5K is not going to do well because it takes the longest to spool. You are going to need studs and most likely O-rings, and you might also want to consider a ported and polished head along with possibly a cam... My goal is 600RWHP on diesel only and will try my best to do so with a single turbo, I am thinking about an A5K but undecided...

Im mainly gonna use the truck for drag racing, occasional sled pulling, and just play on the street. I also want around 600rwhp on diesel only maybe water methonal injection. But just need some suggestions on what turbo would get me there?

Since you have an auto I would get the A5K, in a drag race once you spool it up at the staging lines you won't have to worry about it again and you will be pushing ALOT of air.

I was told that the aurora 5000 has really bad spool up and that it isnt a good turbo if your trying to drive on the street sometimes. I know that spool up on these big singles is going to be slower than my hx40 but not sure how slow they spool? Also i thought that someone told me that the aurora 5000 probaly wouldnt start spooling til 2500rpm! But I just want to make a good choice since im spending $2,000

12v spoolup can be hard with a large single.... Although it can be done with the right combo. Give me a call tomorrow and i will try and answer any questions and give you pros and cons of each.
There is no perfect turbo, everything is a compromise. So turbo selection is one of the most important aspects of setting up a truck.

I was just talking to someone about that Rods. Is that a 64mm? The smallest housing I'd seen for a s400 was a .80 which I'm told is comparable to a 14 cm. Is that still using the 96 mm turbine?

this was a S400 with a 66mm inducer turbine wheel was around 76mm . The guy takes housings from either Holsets like the Hy9 or Hx12 or even S200s and machines them to fit , he told me the other day he took a 80a/r housing fliped it around and machine it to fit a HX60 that bolted to the factory manifold , they have not broke a S400 yet hence the reason for this his customers were breaking HX50 hybrids and S300s So hence forth the MEGASHAFT as I like to term it thx to Chris Watts LOL , I havent seen an 80 a/r from the factory for a S400 that would bolt up but I would say its out there , I know of another shop that machines out 80 a/r housing for S400 on the east coast too
