Here's a pic of the BHAF installed.

It replaces the entire (leaky) stock airbox and filter.
Better flowing, less restrictive, paper element so no risk of oil in the turbo,
IMHO it gets the small dust better than the oiled filters.
As much as 50,000 miles between changes.
You can hear the turbo better with it as well.

I have a outerwears water resistant prefilter on it to keep it dry, since it is sitting out in the open.

That's correct. Couple of guys have even done dyno tests and there is no difference.

Re:Silencer ring removal...

The silencer ring was installed at Dodge's request. To help quiet down the ride for people that don't like too much noise. It doesn't hurt the airflow at all.

Well that answers my question!!
I was wondering if it affected airflow , it kind of looked like it's removal would cause turbulance.
I guess it doesn't, I've never seen any of these in the turbos on the race car I work on.

If you get down to where you can see both ends of the snap ring you can see that it is shaped with an angle at both ends. you can get a screwdriver under the angle & put another screwdriver behind the snap ring & it comes our real easy, it took me all of 5 min to do the whole thing including getting the intake tube on & off.

Is my dealer going to have any problem with the ring removed??
should I drop it back in when I take it in for service??

It does sound great under power when you drive by one of those concrete walls on the highway!!

I doubt that they would even know its missing. Unless they are in there to work on the turbo. They would have to be pretty silly to void a warranty for that. Wouldn't hurt to put it back in for warranty work though.

I would be afraid to put mine back in. I can tell just by looking at the ring holder that it's not in great shape, and is bent somewhat. I'm afraid it would come out if I tried to put it back. Maybe I was just a bit too brutal with it, I don't know.

Some have worried about warrenty work with the ring removed, but from what I have gathered, no one has had an issue with one being removed.

Most dealerships won't know that it has been removed, IMHO.

Silencer Ring Sound

I took miy ring out for awhile but on long interstate trips the noise gets a little annoying so I put it back in. It is great driving around town and listening to it though.
