Silencer Ring Bad?

I just removed my silence ring today and it whines a little more but not much. Is removing it bad for the turbo or does it not really matter? Thanks for any advice

As far as I am aware it helps keep the turbo whistle to a minimal. It does not help performance at all. Although it sure sounds like it!!

look into the big rigs trubos... they havent a ring in there either.

I have an AEM intake on mine and it was under $300 with shipping!!! And it's REALLY loud with the silencer ring gone...

And no, it doesn't hurt anything taking it out. They were just put there to keep the whistle down to a minimum.
