I have been waiting for my Holley Blue to fail and then I am getting this also. You will still need to keep the electric for start up though.

I think HarleyHauler installed one of these, you may want to check w/him on the outcome.

You actually don't need the stock lift pump to start the engine... you would want to retain it for both redunancy and to use it for priming the system after filter changes, etc.

Big deal.... it's a 20 horsepower rated belt used in a 1/4 horsepower application. I'm not concerned with that. That's like arguing against an electric pump because there is another fuse to maintain.

I could buy 9+ new belts for the cost of 1 stock lift pump.... and I bet I could change that belt about 200 times in the time it would take to change one stock lift pump. I wouldn't let the thought of having another belt sway my decision on a fuel system that is 1000 times more reliable than the stock crap.

This issue can easily turn into one of those "which is better, stick or auto? Which aftermarket auto trans is better?, etc...." type of threads. There are those that prefer and swear by electric pumps and there are those that prefer mechanical.

I've had the original DTT Rasp (same pump, etc.) on for ~100K miles. Never even changed a belt since it doesn't show the need. I have a spare, and it can be swapped in minutes. Even if you lose a belt, the system kicks in the stock lift pump, and you are not stranded.

Paul B has had this system on his 02 drag truck for HUNDREDS of 1/4 passes.

I talked to Richard the other day on the phone... he tells me he's had a Fuel Boss on his truck with over 130,000 miles on it including 4 trips up & down the Al-Can highway. He's still running the original belt.

I did a search on the Fuel Boss and those that have installed one.... bottom line seems to be: excellent customer service, excellent product, excellent results. Like I stated earlier.... mine is already on the way to my door. They're on sale right now too!

ok so I can use an elec. pump on start up or mechanical failure, right? But the rest of the time the power is cut off on the elec. pump, right? But the fuel is still being pulled threw the pump, right? Would that still ware out your elec. pump, because the fuel would be moving the internal parts and warring them out still?

No. The two fuel systems are plumbed in parallel and isolated by a check valve. No fuel is moving through the stock lift pump when the mechanical pump is running. Look at post #3 with the link to the installation manual. Open that and look at the bottom of page 4 for a plumbing schematic.
