should I be worried?

Hey guys as you can see I'm new to the forum. I've allways wanted a dodge diesel and today I found one. Its a 2000 SLT Laramie 4X4 very clean 88000 miles on her. The past owner chipped it and did an exaust. It runs like a champ, but there is a tiny puff of smoke on start up. should I be worried about that? I've never had a diesel before. so is there anything I should look for that may be a problem?

Have the fuel pressure checked. Do a search on this site, there is plenty of reading on what to look for and what should be checked. Have fun, good luck and welcome to the site.

Yeah.. that's pretty normal. Should be black or dark gray but not white. But, there's lots of other stuff to check and lookout for. Like Fshiola stated, check your fuel pressure and install a gauge to monitor it. That's probably to most important thing on 24V trucks.. stock or not.

A little puff on start up is completely normal as long as it's not white.
