Should I tap it??????

Well I joined the dead VP44 club one month after buying my new to me 2001 CTD. Right now I'm running the Edge Juice with Attitude around on setting 3 without the wire tapped. At that level my truck started slipping the TC. So I now have a full Goerends transmission and triple disc TC on the way. With the luck I've been having I'm kind of scared to tap the pump wire of my Bosch rebuilt VP44. Is the performance worth the risk? At which setting does the box start adding fuel? 1 through 5????? I'm hoping some people out there who have tapped the pump wire can give me a bit of reassurance. Thank you for your help.

I have owend my truck for 5 years and have not taped my wire I lost 2 lp and 1 Ip with whats in my sig. I am going to beta test the new quad. race box and the wire is getting taped. I think as long as you keep the fuel pressure up you will be fine. as for risk reward I would say yes but I dont really now for sure hope this helps.

It's a roll of the dice, if you have a good LP tap it, no sence of having something you cant use, specially since you can put it to the ground now.

I lost a VP at 40K with no tap.

I don't think tapping would make it any worse than that.

If you want to stay at 400hp or less, then don't tap it, just put in bigger injectors. If you want more then 400hp, and want a wildly adjustable power level, then there is no substitute to tapping the pump. I remember how hard the decision was for me on tapping the pump. Now it seems very trivial.

Go ahead and tap it, my lift pump took out the IP before i even had my Juice. Just watch your fuel psi on the moniter. I have had mine on for about a month and have been hard on it several times(a day)haha but the tranny is holding up supprisingly, considering it is stock. But i have been saving all summer for a rebuild anyway.
It will add more fuel on level 5 in the low boost settings, but just play with it, i have it on 5x5 all the time and i can drive with out smoke, or leave a good trail. Just play with the low boost setting and set it where you want it, either quick power(level 5) to the pedal or you can wait until the turbo spools(level 1). Have fun.

it took me 3 months before my VP failed on my 'new to me' truck. i replaced it and waited until its warranty was out, then i tapped it.

i figure, why buy a 120hp box if im only going to use 65hp of it?? i think whether you tap it or not, you should save the funds for a new one because either way it can die.
