Should I start looking for a turbine housing?

It's a B-1 turbo that was on Ebay, there is a thread about it on here. I bought it with full knowledge of the crack, and having seen pics, but now that I see it in person, I might have gotten in over my head. I uploaded pics, I'm waiting for them to be approved. The crack is in the divider, starting at the flange and heading in. It is not external, and there are no exhaust leaks. As soon as the photos are approved I will post them in this thread. Thanks.

Slap it on and call it good.

Just monitor it because cracks tend to grow, and internal cracks can become external ones easily.

A crack in the divider shouldn't cause any immediate problems. Keep an eye on it, though.

I agree with the above advice.

Would drilling a hole at the end of the existing crack reduce it's tendency to grow?

Good luck drilling a hole at the inner end of THAT crack!

I realized that right after I posted that Justin.

Semi related, the Shiner Dunkelweizen is REALLY good...

If that was my turbo, I'd stop-drill the end of the crack to prevent propagation... enter through the outside wall of the housing and thread a plug in to seal it afterwards.

Then I'd bevel that crack and lay in some high-nickel rod with the TIG.

This is what I would do! Take it to a good welder and have him do some preventative maint.

This has been suggested to me personally. I would love to, however the crack runs right to where the divider and internal wall meet. It's not visible in the photo, but the crack probably goes for another ~1 inch. I received my 3 piece manifold and everything else today, and am chomping at the bit to install it. I think I'm going to throw it on, watch it closely, and look into one come spring time. The HX35 is toasted, it needs to be replaced.

I saw a lot of those when I was building turbos or rebuilding them. Not much was ever said or mention about the cracks. I suppose you could drill the hole, if you could see the end and weld it.
