should i go 4" or 5" out the back???
i'm going to upgrade my exhaust soon. i was going to go with the 4" but i saw a 5" turbo back system in the jc whitney catalogue the other day.
so my questions are these:
other than the coolness factor of a 5", would be there be a big advantage over the 4". i plan on getting about 300-400 hp when i get done tinkering with the engine.
...and do you think the exhaust systems from jc whitney are any good?
oh, and i'd like it to sound like a peterbuilt going down the road when it's done.

Go with the four if you want resonable for the performance. Fives are a little deeper as far as sound, just today I was behind a 02' with a five pulling a 24' gooseneck and couldn't hear it anymore after a couple hundred yards saw a little smoke but thats it. Also depends on what kind of fuel you have going through it. Although I'm not an auto guy so I dont know how they sound while taking off with a manual you can get it a little louder IMO. Someone else will chime in im sure.

I just put a 4" strait in. Sounds like a Kenworth. I came home from an errand the day I put it in and the wife thought I was a load of Timber pulling in the dooryard.
Oh, and I went over a friends house the other night to drop off a deer, he said he was outside and he could here me comming 1 mile away!

Personally, I am on the fence over 5" and I really dont care for 6" at all, either out the back or stacks. Its way too "bling" for me. Its a pickup truck, with a 5.9L engine, not a Peterbuilt with a 15L engine. 4" just seems very nicely "scale" for our pickup trucks. On my stack, I didnt use exhaust system tubing, I used 4" SCH 10 stainless pipe, which actually measures 4.5" on the O.D. and was the perfect size to me.
Anything more, reminds me too much of the big outlet mufflers on neons, and cavaliers that these jokers are running around the city with.... And a big outlet with the pipe much smaller further upstream, screams BLING to me....
Again, this is just my opinion, and I know there are a lot of guys on here with huge pipes, and I dont want to start a fight....
