Shootin a lil flame :)

Heres a vid we took of my stack one night. I apologize for the quality, kinda hard to get a good vid at night, but u can see the flame pretty good. We took this vid about 2 hours before we started the tear down.

His EGT's were around 1600-1700*. Pistons and cylinder walls looked brand new with 220k plus miles on it. Crosshatches are easily seen. Cant wait to get it back together

I'm guessing the stack was out of the hood? I have never seen any other stacks do that! Even then, most times you see flames out of your stack it is parts of your cylinder.

I've seen a few pulling trucks with stacks in the bed shooting some flames....Big Bad Dodge comes to mind.

Nope...not out the hood that I remember. And fire out the stack means EGT's hot enough to burn off more fuel in the exhaust of these old 12v's

My two points exactly....EGT's hot enough to burn fuel in exhaust and where is BBD nowadays? Last I heard for sale minus motor ( or at least a functioning one).

I built a 4' exhaust with a 5" stack on my friends '67 Jeep M715 1 1/4 ton weapons carrier that we put a 97 Cummins in with lots of goody's and it dose the same thing. Like you said it pegs the piro at over 1700* but he has been able to do that for over 4 years now and no probs yet. you can run high EGT's for short bursts with no prob. It's the guys that hit 15-1700 with a trailer all day long. Cummins states that you can run 1250* all day long like in a gen set or some thing like that all day long with no prob. Thats why they call it Maximum Sustained EGT's. Now I would not run it like that all the time but now and then would be fine, running down the road at 70 egt's are only 750*. Cool vid, I need to get one of his. Check out the M715 Zone if you want to see what the M715 looks like.

Truck sold and gone about 2 months ago, moved from the West to the East coast area. New ride in the BBD stable (now Big Bad Diesel) is a highly modified sled machine formerly known as Still Smokin.. Hold your breath, its a Ford, BUT it has a Cummins of course..

Here are some photos..
