Offroadwarehouse has Bilstein 5100s at a discount for TDR members. Just received a pair for the fronts a couple days ago. 5100s require at least a 1" lift though from what I have read. Otherwise, you can get the standard yellow Bilsteins. Haven't run them though.

Just click on the TDR logo in the lower-left of the home page.

KYB's web site lists 3 different models. Which one is best for CTD...Monomax, Gas Adjust or GR-2's?
Why are they better?

I've had good results with KYBs on other vehicles. I'd put them in the same class with the 5100s, but I think the 5100s are better suited to our heavy 4wd trucks.

If I had a gasser 2wd, I'd for SURE be considering them.

i said months ago i would stay out of brand wars, but i will say this i bought the best monroe had for my 82. going into a turn with dips in it the truck wallowed like it was in rough seas. i knew i had a problem with a heavy engine in front. the monroes could not do the job. parts man recommended kyb. this is not the first time i have had problems that monroe could not solve. never again rather not have any shocks at all.

What dsldan said -- Monomax's.

I do thousands of miles of gravel and dirt driving every year. Ranchos simply don't handle it well. Top seals are trash after a single season. The Bilsteins are far better. However, the B's are a softer shock and more subject to fade and uneven suppression, especially in summer. Not a pavement problem at all, strictly offroad, fifty miles of ruts, washboard, and gravel at 45 mph.

KYB's are the most stable shock I've found for offroad. The trade-off is that they are a bit stiffer than the B's on the pavement.

I also like the fact that you can hammer a KYB Monomax with gravel for 20K miles, and it doesn't seem to chip or dent much. Not so with the others.
