Yes I have but the problem is the trans is original and the truck has 142000 on it and if it fails I don't want to put to much into it,I was thinking a shift kit would not be to much and maybe get a few more miles out of it???

I would leave it and save your money for a new transmission. Just treat this one good for now and save the pennies.

These guys are supposed to have a good one. I keep meaning to buy one from the but never quite get around to it. They call it a valve body kit. See the second link.

I have the SMR and have been very happy with it. It really is not too hard to do if you are mechanical. One big difference in the kits is how they handle the increase in trans pressure, the SMR has a valve that bleeds down the pressure to the sensor. Most of the others have a resistor that needs to be soldered in. The resistor works OK, but I have heard of some going into hobble mode. Not that that is a big deal, you just shut everything down and start again, or buy a variable resistor that mounts on the fire wall from DTT.

The most important thing they do is up the line pressure. Mine made a big difference, it really puts the power to the ground, instead of the tourque converter just slipping. Also, I put the kit in my truck at 120,000.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Bob

I have installed both, the SMR is nicer than the Transgo kit.

You should be OK, the higher line pressures "can" cause a problem, but usually not.
